Jean Silva - Jose Delgado: betting tip (cf 2.18) and bets on the fight

Jean Silva had a difficult fight with Arnold Allen in January and won by unanimous decision. For the Brazilian, this result was of particular importance: a year earlier, he lost for the first time in the UFC, losing to Diego Lopez by technical knockout in the second round. Then Silva himself started the fight very aggressively, but missed the retaliatory attack and was unable to continue the meeting. The defeat of Lopez stopped his rapid movement towards the title race. Prior to that, Silva looked almost unstoppable: he won five fights in a row in the UFC and none of them led to a judicial decision. The Brazilian made his way to Dana White's organization through the Contender Series, where he defeated Kevin Vallejos on points.

Silva has early victories over Bryce Mitchell, Melsik Baghdasaryan, Drew Dober, Charles Jourdan and Westin Wilson. He forced Mitchell to give up in the second round, and stopped the rest of his opponents with punches. The Brazilian's only fight in the UFC, which ended by a decision of the judges, was the last meeting with Allen. Silva is ranked sixth in the featherweight division. The 29-year-old fighter has 17 wins and three losses. He knocked out his opponents 12 times, won three more victories by submission and two by decision. 

After losing to Lopez, his reputation as a dangerous finisher faded somewhat. However, the victory over Allen helped to regain confidence. However, I would not call that evening the unconditional triumph of the Brazilian. The fight turned out to be much tighter than one might expect if one looks solely at the final judges' notes.

Prior to joining the UFC in 2024, Silva gained experience in regional organizations such as Spartacus MMA, Big Shot Fight and Aspera FC. He never got a title chance there, but he has collected an impressive collection of bonuses and awards. In addition, the Brazilian has a Thai boxing base.

Current form

Jose Delgado is a representative of Phoenix, so the fight in Glendale will actually become his home. The American is a year younger than Silva and has fought five fights in the UFC, winning four. In July, Delgado defeated Austin Bashae by unanimous decision. Before that, he beat Andre Fili by split decision. But the meeting with Nathaniel Wood ended in defeat for the American on points. Moreover, not everyone agreed with the judges' decision: many believed that Delgado could have won.

His career in the UFC began much more spectacularly. The American stopped Haider Emil in just 26 seconds, and Connor Matthews also won in the first round. Even before his official debut in the promotion, Delgado performed at the Contender Series and knocked out Ernie Juarez in the second round. The 28-year-old American has 12 wins (six by knockout, two by decision, four by submission) and two defeats.

The problem is that after a bright start, the American has not yet been able to turn individual flashes of skill into stable dominance. This is the main mystery of the upcoming match. Delgado has a lot of potential, and at times he looks like a high-level contender. But there are increasingly gaps between vivid episodes when the opponent takes over the initiative.

His work under serious pressure is especially alarming. Delgado has already found himself in unpleasant situations in the stand, and in the last fight Bashi managed to knock him down. And this is the case when the statistics look particularly interesting: Bashi is primarily known for his wrestling, not his destructive striking technique.

At the same time, it would be a big mistake to write off an American. In fights with Mathews and Emil, he demonstrated speed, a sense of distance and the ability to find the moment for a decisive attack. The meetings with Wood and Fili turned out to be much more difficult, but even there Delgado periodically showed that he was capable of creating serious problems for his opponent.

The American also managed to perform at LFA, Tuff-N-Uff and Freedom Fight Night. Now he faces the most serious exam of his career. Moreover, the exam will take place in conditions that many fighters only dream of: with the support of their native audience and in the main fight of the evening.
