The Knicks, on the other hand, suffered an 80-118 crushing defeat to the Detroit Pistons on February 7 in Detroit, ending an eight-game winning streak. The Knicks lost all quarters: 17:28, 25:35, 18:27, 20:28, showing a weak attack and failed defense. The Pistons dictated the conditions from the first minute, building up the advantage especially in the second quarter, and the Knicks could not organize either a series of accurate shots or rebounds, limiting themselves to only 80 points — the minimum of the season.

Jaylen Brunson (12 points) became the leader of the team with several accurate shots, and Mikal Bridges (18) added a contribution from the arc and layups. After the loss, the Knicks have a 33-19 balance, remaining in second place in the Atlantic Division, but with noticeable defensive problems.
