Brighton vs Liverpool: prediction for the English Premier League match

Brighton had a flying start to their 2023 campaign - they crushed Middlesbrough (5:1), and then defeated Everton (4:1). For the first time since 2013, the team has a chance to start the calendar year with two Premier League wins in a row. 

The victory over the Toffees was their fourth in the last six games. The Seagulls also haven't lost to Liverpool in the last six meetings in Brighton. Roberto de Zerbi's men are trailing Liverpool by one point - with 27 points from 17 games, they sit in 8th place in the table. 

Moder, Mwepu, and Trossard have been ruled out of this fixture. 

Liverpool had a very different start to 2023. They drew against Wolverhampton in the FA Cup (2:2) and suffered a shocking defeat to Brentford (1:3) in the Premier League. That loss ended a four-game winning streak, and Jurgen Klopp's side is potentially facing two straight defeats at the start of the new year for the first time since 1993.

The Reds are seven points behind the top-4, they lost half of their away games this season, and have collected only 28 points from 17 games. However, they have the third-best attack in the league with 34 goals. 

Firmino, van Dijk, Diogo Jota, Diaz, and Arthur are all out injured.
