Manchester City are five points behind Arsenal, but they keep putting pressure on the current leaders. On Wednesday, the Sky-BLues got an easy victory over Leeds (3:1), and it was obvious that the defending champions could have scored more goals.

The City team won the last nine games against Everton, and they are not really worried today, either. However, Man City couldn't win their last four New Year's Eve games. Last week, Pep Guardiola's men beat Liverpool in the League Cup, thus progressing into the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Phillips, Mendy, and Diaz are sidelined with injuries.

Everton have recently played better than they had done at the start of the season, but the results still leave much to be desired. In the last Premier League game, the Toffees suffered a defeat to Wolverhampton. Frank Lampard's men lost six out of eight previous games and are just one point above the relegation zone.

Making things even worse, Everton can't find the back of the net. Last time they scored was way back on October 22. Their away stats are a bit better, but we doubt that will help them tonight.
