Liverpool vs Southampton: prediction for the English Premier League match

Liverpool are having a shocking year. Recently, for example,the Reds lost to Nottingham Forest (0:1) and Leeds United (1:2). Inconsistent results put Liverpool in 8th place in the standings with 19 points. The team is seven points behind the top-4, and making it into the Champions League zone will be very difficult. Soton are in 18th place in the standings - for the first time since the season 2004-05, they will spent their winter holidays in the relegation zone.

The visiting team collected 12 points from 14 games. They delivered 12 goals and conceded almost two goals per game on average. In the League Cup, however, Southampton made it into the 4th round. They defeated Sheffield Wednesday on penalties.

Larios, Walker-Pieters, and Livramento have been ruled out of this fixture.
