Command Analysis

Joaquin Buckley

Current form

Joaquin Buckley has lost his last two fights. In fights against Sean Brady and Kamaru Usman, he found himself on the floor four times after takedowns. Brady controlled the American for more than 12 minutes in just three rounds. Usman also managed to force a fight on him. Between these defeats, Buckley lost to Tyron Woodley and Patrick Downey in the Real American Freestyle wrestling competition. However, it would be a mistake to forget how he appeared before this series of failures. The American won six fights in a row, stopped Colby Covington due to a doctor's intervention, knocked out Stephen Thompson, Vicente Luque and Andre Fiallo, and also defeated Alex Morono and Nursultan Ruziboev on points.

Buckley has been performing professionally since 2014. Before joining the UFC, he managed to test himself in Bellator MMA and Legacy Fighting Alliance. In April 2018, Joaquin lost to Logan Storley by unanimous decision at the Bellator 197 tournament, but subsequently achieved two early victories in the LFA and received an invitation to the UFC.

He made his debut in the world's strongest league in August 2020 against Kevin Holland and ended with a technical knockout loss in the third round. Since then, Buckley has collected a lot of bright victories and bonuses, but now he needs to find an answer to the struggle of rivals. The 32-year-old American has 21 wins, including 15 knockouts and six judges' decisions. He ranks tenth in the UFC welterweight rankings.

Buckley has one quality that is impossible to miss: when he is allowed to work from a comfortable distance, he is able to turn a fight into a very unpleasant experience for any opponent. The American has an impressive arm span, explosive speed and a heavy punch.

Mike Malott

Current form

Mike Malott has her own comeback story. In January 2024, Malott was defeated by Neil Magney by technical knockout, although he looked very convincing during the meeting. After that, he managed to restart his career and won four fights in a row. Among his defeated rivals are Trevin Giles, Charles Radtke, Kevin Holland and Gilbert Burns. Mike stopped the latter with a technical knockout, after which the Brazilian decided to end his professional career.

34-year—old Malott is a former Xcessive Force Fighting Championship champion. He has 14 wins to his credit: six by knockout, six by submission and two by decision. The Canadian has two defeats. He holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and works as a grappling coach. The fighter ranks 13th in the ranking of his division in the UFC.

It is the struggle that can become Malott's main trump card. If he does not give in to the desire to make a spectacle for his native audience and acts prudently, he will have the opportunity to take advantage of the main weakness of the American. At the same time, you should not underestimate the Canadian's striking technique either: his hands are quite decent. But trying to prove to Buckley who works better in the rack is an undertaking with obvious risks. One precise blow from the American can change the whole course of the meeting.

Tip and bets

TipMalotte's victory
1.76

Buckley is dangerous at a distance and is able to complete the confrontation with a single hit. However, recent performances have shown that against a competent wrestler, his striking qualities can be almost useless. Malott will face a serious test: he probably has never had an opponent of this level and with such knockout power. But the Canadian is approaching the fight on a four-win streak and has the tools to cause serious trouble for the American. The main thing for the owner of the octagon is not to confuse sports logic with the desire to please the audience. He doesn't need to win a contest for the most spectacular exchange of blows. It's much more important to get closer in time, get Buckley into the stalls and keep him there. If Malott chooses this particular path, the American may face familiar problems again.

Our prediction is that Malott will win in 1.76
