Buffalo is having a very rough start to the season so far. After defeating Chicago (4-3) and Minnesota (3-2 OT), Lindy Ruff's team lost twice in a row on home ice. In two meetings, the hosts scored only once, although there are no special problems with offensive performers.

In the last match, Buffalo was even the first to open the scoring thanks to Teige Thompson, who finally realized the majority. But then the opponent scored four goals in a row. Colten Ellis blocked 26 shots, but failed to save the team. Moreover, the hosts themselves scored only 24 shots on target. In general, there are still big problems with implementation, and there are enough mistakes in defense. In addition, the injured Jason Zucker is still not helping the team.

Florida started the season with four consecutive games with points, but won only two of them. Paul Maurice's team beat Carolina (1-0 OT) and Los Angeles (2-1), and lost in overtime in the confrontations with San Jose and Anaheim. At the same time, the attack is still far from working perfectly. In five meetings, the Panthers scored only nine goals.

The last game was also unsuccessful. At home, Florida lost to Minnesota with a score of 1:4, and conceded twice by the seventh minute. Matthew Tkachuk scored the only goal, and Kirill Kaprizov scored a hat-trick. Injuries to Alexander Barkov and Brad Marchand remain a serious problem. Without two important strikers, it is noticeably more difficult for the team to create chances. And most of them are practically not working yet - just one implementation in 28 attempts.
