Carlos Canizales hasn't boxed in about a year. In the last match, he knocked out Panya Pradabsrili in the fifth round, although he himself was knocked down. It was a rematch after a controversial defeat by a majority decision in December 2024. Prior to that, Canizales defeated Ivan Balderas to win the WBC silver title, and previously lost to Kenshiro Teraji by majority decision in a fight for the WBA Super and WBC titles. The 33-year-old Venezuelan has 28 wins, three losses and one draw with 20 wins by knockout.

In 2018, he won the vacant WBA belt by defeating Reiya Konishi. This was followed by successful defenses against Bin Lu and Sho Kimura, but in May 2021, Canizales lost the title, losing to Esteban Bermudez by knockout in the sixth round. He started his professional career in 2014 and has already played 186 rounds. 71.4% of his wins ended ahead of schedule, although he stopped only four opponents in the last 12 fights. Canizales is 160 cm tall and has a 164 cm arm span.

Daya Kira last boxed in December, when he stopped Balderas in the second round. The Japanese is only 23 years old, and his professional record is perfect so far — four wins and zero losses with three knockouts. In two years as a pro, he has only played 12 rounds. Kira has serious amateur experience: he competed at the 2023 Japanese Championship, the 2022 All-Japan Men's Tournament and the AIBA World Youth Championship. His strengths are speed and bodywork. He trains at the Shisei Boxing Gym in Tokyo. Kira's height is 163 cm, her arm span is 155 cm. The percentage of wins by knockout is 75%.
