Lada frankly failed last season. The team could not impose a fight on most KHL clubs, according to the results of the regular season it earned only 47 points and, of course, could not even compete for entry into the playoffs. Given such weak results, the club has not remained without major changes. The management started another restructuring. A large number of players left the team, and in particular it is worth noting Cotton, Semin, Tyulin and Yurcho. They were replaced by Mishurov, Millman and King. So far, it is difficult to assess these changes, but it is unlikely that we should expect outstanding results.

The Tolyatti team had a terrible start to pre-season training. The squad turned out to be completely unprepared for the match with Amur and suffered a dry defeat with a score of 0:5. It seemed that a similar result should be expected in the next match with Salavat Yulaev, but surprisingly Lada demonstrated very effective hockey and won a landslide victory (6:3).

Barys has been without a playoff for the fourth consecutive season, but the team played much better last year. According to the results of the regular season, they managed to take the tenth place in the table, which is far from the optimal result, but it is worth recalling that in the 2024-2025 season, Kazakhstanis turned out to be the worst in the league, having won only 14 victories over the entire period. During the off-season, the club tried to strengthen as much as possible. A large number of foreign players joined the team, including Shepard, Prisky, Bailey and Pilon.

There was no doubt that Barys would not start the preseason in the best way. It was as if the team hadn't recovered after a long rest and hadn't been able to give a decent rebuff to their opponents in the first two matches. The Leopards could not cope with Salavat Yulaev (1:4), and then they were completely defeated by Amur (1:5).
