Michael Zerafa fought Nikita Tszyu for the vacant WBO International belt in January. Alejandro Ortiz effectively dealt with Wilman Conteras in March, ending the fight in the second round. The statistics of the 25-year-old Venezuelan are 26-1, with 25 wins by knockout. Only Yeferson Hernandez managed to hold out with him for all ten rounds, losing by unanimous decision. Ortiz is 178 cm tall, and there is no data on arm span. Thus, he is 2 cm shorter than Zerafa. The Venezuelan turned professional in 2019 and managed to complete 76 rounds.

Ortiz's only defeat came last October, when Bakari Zamake stopped him in the fifth round. This defeat is especially significant: most of the Venezuelan's previous rivals had no serious experience. Only five of the 27 opponents entered the fight with a positive balance of wins and losses.
