Such rapid denouements have long been the hallmark of the American. During his time in the UFC, he has already completed his fights in less than a minute four times, regardless of whether he won or lost. This year, McKinney has scored two wins with one loss.

He forced Vyacheslav Borshchev to capitulate by guillotine strangulation, then stopped Damir Hadzovich by technical knockout, and suffered his only defeat in a confrontation with Chris Duncan, losing by anaconda strangulation. The 31-year-old American has 16 wins — nine by knockout and seven by submission — with six defeats. In addition, he holds a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
