After the winter break, Lokomotiv does not demonstrate stable performance and risks losing the third place, which it still holds. In the seven matches played, the railwaymen achieved only three victories, and beat only rivals from the bottom of the table: Paris NN, Akron and Orenburg. In the away matches against Rubin and Spartak, defeats were recorded with a score of 0:3 and 1:2, respectively. As a result, on the eve of the start of the 26th round, Mikhail Galaktionov's team takes third place, three points ahead of Spartak and Baltika. Zenit could not beat Krasnodar following the results of the face-to-face match in the 24th round (1:1). However, after the completion of the 25th round in the RPL, the change of leader took place. The blue-white-blues defeated Dynamo Makhachkala with a minimum score of 1-0 on the road, while the bulls could not beat Baltika at home (2:2). Sergey Semak's team climbed to the first place, but the whole fight for gold awards is still ahead, as the gap is only one point.

In the match against Dynamo Makhachkala, Semak's pragmatic football gave a positive result. Zenit had a total advantage, literally did not let the opponent out of its clutches. It took a long time, however, to open the saturated defense of Makhachkala, Sobolev missed a penalty in the 71st minute. As a result, we didn't score ourselves – the opponent helped us. In the 78th minute, Glushkov scored an own goal, which decided the fate of the match.

It should be noted that Zenit scored its second consecutive away victory in the Premier League. Prior to that, the Petersburgers confidently dealt with Dynamo Moscow with a score of 3:1. We pay attention to this, since throughout the season Sergey Semak's team had problems in the away meetings. At the moment, they have won only five of the 12 matches played in other arenas.
