Omsk Wings demonstrated great hockey throughout the regular season and due to this they directly reached the playoffs from the first place in the table of the Eastern Conference of the Golden Division. However, despite their powerful superiority over the Siberian Snipers, the team could not successfully start in the Kharlamov Cup, suffering the most insulting defeat in a shootout (1:2). Nevertheless, the club quickly rehabilitated itself in front of the fans and not only equalized the score in the series, but also was able to earn an advantage by winning two victories with the score 2:0 and 4:2, respectively. Thus, the hawks confirmed their status and refuted the fears of the fans.
