But the story of Maisie Barber is a separate line, full of unexpected twists. A rematch with Grasso is one of those things that wasn't really asked for, but which suddenly become interesting. Especially considering how Barber herself has changed. After losing in 2021, she posted a series of seven consecutive wins. Yes, the path was not perfect: there were disruptions of fights, strange decisions, including abandoning the fight with Erin Blanchfield literally at the last moment, and withdrawing from the fight against Rose Namayunas. But when she goes into the cage, she does her job.

The last fight in December 2025 against Karin Silva showed that Barber is able to control, push and take rounds. She became more physically powerful, more confident in the fight and, most importantly, learned how to impose her pace. She is currently ranked fifth and looks like a fighter who is just entering peak form. And this is probably the main factor before the rematch.
