But Tampa Bay turned its last match into a real show. On March 8, the Lightning defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2 on the ice at Scotiabank Arena, ending an unpleasant four-game losing streak. The highlight of the meeting was Nikita Kucherov's anniversary. The Russian forward scored his 100th point of the season, giving four assists at once.

The lightning spent the first period like a hurricane: Ryan McDonagh, Jake Guentzel, Corey Perry and Oliver Bjorkstrand scored four goals in a row. In the third period, Brandon Hagel finally cleared the questions about the winner. Toronto responded with goals from Mathias mckally and Nick Robertson, but there was no comeback. Andrey Vasilevsky confidently held the goal, deflecting 27 shots. After this victory, Tampa Bay secured the second place in the Eastern Conference with 82 points.
