Current form

Severstal came in a clean second place in the West and intends to continue the fight for leadership in the conference. Andrey Kozyrev's team currently has 70 points after 53 matches and is three points behind the leading Locomotive. The Cherepovets team spent the second half of January unstable and alternated between wins and losses, but they regularly clung to points. At the end of a long away series, they managed to beat Torpedo (3:2, OT) and Dynamo Moscow (3:2), however, after returning to their home ice, the steelworkers were defeated by Spartak (1:5).

In the duel against the Muscovites, the defense of the hosts crumbled already in the first period and by the break the lynxes were losing by as many as three goals. Konstantin Shostak took his place at the last line of defense, and thanks to Nikolai Burenov's puck, Severstal managed to win in the second segment. Adam Lishka's squad tried to win back, but missed twice more in the third 20 minutes and lost.

Ruslan Abrosimov retains his leadership in the club's goalscoring list. At the moment, he has 43 points (21+22) in the goal+pass system.

SKA recently claimed a place among the leaders of the conference, but due to poor results, the team from St. Petersburg fell back to the eighth position in the West.
