The Slovak national team is considered the main contender for the third place in Group A. Peter Frigauf's team played at the start of the tournament against the Swedes and proved to be very worthy (2:3), losing only by one goal. The very next day, the Slovaks dealt with the Germans quite confidently and earned the first points. In the match against the German national team, Thomas Khrenko became the leader of the team. He scored three goals and actually brought victory to his partners. Adam Belusco scored a goal into an empty net, which no longer decided anything.

After conceding two goals, the team led by Bob Motzko went ahead again and William Zellers scored twice, and Cole Eiserman set the final score on the scoreboard.
