Rennes vs Marseille: prediction for the Ligue 1 match

Rennes keep fighting for the European places in Ligue 1. Club is currently at the 5th position, four points behind 4th-placed Lens. But the Red-Blacks are also chased by Lille and Nice, who have Top-5 ambitions. Bruno Genesio's men need to maintain the winning form in order to keep a Top-5 spot. 

Team recently suffered defeats to Lille and Toulouse by the same score of 1:3. After that, Rennes secured two clean sheet victories - over Nantes (1:0) and Clermont (2:0). But these opponents were weaker than the Red-Blacks, now Genesio's men are about to face the 2nd-placed Marseille. 

Marseille are enjoying a great season. Team is currently at the 2nd position, eight points away from the leading PSG. Parisians recently had just a five-point lead, but PSG managed to beat Marseille by a 3:0 score on Matchday 25, extending the gap to eight. It was a second defeat in four matches for Marseille. Igor Tudor's men also lost to Nice (1:3). Now the White-Blues are just two points ahead of 3rd and 4th places. 

Marseille also suffered an unexpected defeat in Coupe de France. A game against Ligue 2 side Annecy went to a penalty shoot-out, which was lost by the favourite.
