Pegula had an easy draw on her way to the semi-final of Dubai tournament. American player lost focus for some time in the first match against Tomova (6:2, 5:7, 6:1). In the second round American player secured a victory over Bogdan in straight sets (6:4, 6:3). Pegula didn't play in the quarter-final, because Muchova withdrew herself from playing. 

Barbora Krejcikova is in a rusty form at the start of the season. However, she won nine of 13 matches and reached the round of 16 at Australian Open. She lost to her today's opponent, Pegula (5:7, 2:6). 

Krejcikova played four matches to reach the semi-final in Dubai, so she is surely more exhausted than Pegula. Czech player secured victories over Begu, Kasatkina, Kvitova and Sabalenka. In the second round Barbora was close to a defeat, but Kasatkina failed to convert any match points (6:4, 4:6, 7:5). After that, Krejcikova secured a comeback victory over Aryna Sabalenka (0:6, 7:6, 6:1).
