RB Leipzig have made significant progress in the last seven years. Although they have yet been unable to challenge the giants such as Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title, last year the Bulls won the DFB-Pokal for the first time in their history. In the final, Leipzig beat SC Freiburg on penalties. By finishing in the top-4 in the league, they secured a ticket to the main European club tournament. 

In the offseason, RB Leipzig bought Timo Werner from Chelsea (20 million), Xaver Schlager from Wolfsburg (12 million), and David Raum, also from Wolfsburg (26 million). Domenico Tedesco's charges kicked off the new season with a defeat to Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup (1:3). Their Bundesliga campaign has not been very successful, either - with two wins and two draws, Leipzig are in 10th place in the table.
