Newcastle United vs Crystal Palace: prediction for the English Premier League match

Newcastle United had a controversial 2021-2022 season. Before the winter break, they delivered terrible results and sat in the relegation zone. After the break, they were excellent. The team managed to finish in 11th place with 49 points. In the summer, the club signed Sven Botman from Lille (37 million), Matt Targett from Aston Villa (17.5 million), and Nick Pope from Burnley (11.5 million). 

At the start of the season, the Magpies beat Tranmere to reach the third round of the League Cup. In the Premier League, they chalked up six points from three draws and a first-round victory over Nottingham Forest (2:0). Currently, Newcastle occupy the 12th line in the standings.

Eddie Howe won't be able to call upon the services of Krafth, Saint-Maximin Guimaraes, Shelvey, and Wilson.

Last year, Crystal Palace had an amazing performance in the FA Cup and reached the semifinals of the tournament. In the Premier League, the Glaziers chalked up 48 points from 38 games and finished in 12th place.

In the summer, Patrick Vieira's side signed Abdoulaye Doucouré from Lens (22.6 million) and Chris Richards from Bayern (12 mln). Palace's start to the new season was decent: they lost twice in five games, but got a confident victory over Aston Villa (3:1) and held Liverpool to a draw (1:1). In total, they have five points. 

Butland, Tomkins, McArthur, and Ferguson are all sidelined through injuries.
