Southampton vs Manchester United: prediction for the English Premier League fixture

Southampton had a decent 2021-2022 season. The Saints delivered good results and high quality football, for instance, they beat Swansea, Coventry City, and West Ham to reach the FA Cup quarterfinals. In the Premier League, Soton collected 40 points from 38 games, which put them in 15th place in the final table. 

Ralph Hasenhuttl's side picked up four points from the first three games of the new season. They lost to Tottenham (1:4), drew against Leeds (2:2), and defeated Leicester City (2:1). The defensive line hasn't been very reliable - the team conceded seven goals in three games. 

The hosts will have to cope without Perraud and Livramento. 

Manchester Unitedhad a decent start to their 2021-2022 Champions League campaign. However, after successfully qualifying for the playoffs, the Red Devils were knocked out of the competition by Atletico Madrid in the round of 16. In the first round of the FA Cup, Man United lost to Middlesbrough on penalties. Their Premier League campaign was a disappointment, too - 6th place in the final table with a total of 58 points.

Erik ten Hag became the new manager in the offseason. Other additions to the team include Lisandro Martinez from Ajax (57.37 million) and Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord (15 million). Once again, United endured a rough start to the season - the team first lost to Brighton (1;2), then got crushed by Brentford (0:4). Last weekend, the Red Devils pulled themselves together and beat Liverpool (2:1).
