Girona vs Celta: prediction for the La Liga fixture

Fans of Girona were not expecting such a surprising performance from the team in the previous season. In 42 rounds of Segunda hosts secured 20 victories and eight draws, delivering 68 points and a 6th spot in the standings. Gironistes managed to beat Eibar in the playoffs, after that team also coasted past Tenerife and earned a promotion to La Liga. 

Club strengthened the squad during the summer, signing Miguel Gutierrez from Real Madrid for 4 million euros. In the first round of a new season team suffered a 0:1 defeat to Valencia, but in the second match hosts secured a victory over Getafe (3:1). 

Garcia, Kebe and Martin will miss the upcoming match due to injuries. 

In the previous season Celta put up an inconsistent performance, getting the victory only in autumn. Nonetheless, they kept their head coach and the Sky Blues ended the season with 12 victories and 10 draws, delivering 46 points and an 11th spot in the standings. 

Vigo team failed to achieve success in the Spanish Cup. After two victories team suffered an unexpected defeat to Baleares (1:2). During the summer club signed Oscar Mingueza from Barcelona for 3 million euros and Carles Perez from Roma for 1 million. Celta started the season with a 2:2 draw against Espanyol, followed by a 1:4 defeat to Real Madrid.
