Atletico vs Villarreal: prediction for the La Liga fixture

In the previous season Atletico lost the La Liga title - team secured 21 victories and eight draws, delivering 71 points and a 3rd spot in the standings. Team got off to a great start in the Champions League and advanced into the playoffs. At the first stage Madrid side eliminated Manchester United, but in the next round team failed to beat another Manchester team - Manchester City. 

During the summer club signed Molina for 20 million euros and Samuel Lino from Gil Vicente for 6,5 million euros. In the first match the Mattresses secured an away victory over their local rivals, Getafe (3:0). Felipe and Gimenez will miss the upcoming game. 

In the previous season Villarreal put up a great performance in the Champions League. Team easily went past the group stage, after that team beat Bayern and Juventus, but in the semi-final Valencians were beaten by Liverpool. In 38 rounds of La Liga Unai Emery's men have recorded 16 victories and 11 draws, delivering 59 points and a 7th spot in the standings. 

Start of the new season turned out to be successful - the Yellow Submarine secured a victory over Valladolid (3:0), after that the visitors recorded a victory over Hajduk (4:2) in the qualifying round. Trigueros, Foyth, Moreno and Danjuma will miss the upcoming game.
