Tomljanovic vs Stephens: prediction for the WTA Washington match

Ajla Tomljanovic put up a great performance on grass tournaments, she reached the quarter-final of Wimbledon. Australian player was eliminated from the London tournament by the eventual winner, Elena Rybakina (4:6, 6:2, 6:3). 

After the Wimbledon Ajla took a break. She is not so successful on hard in the current season - just five victories and eight defeats. Tomljanovic will play at Washington for the first time in her career and her first opponent will be Sloane Stephens, who is 6-0 up in head-to-heads.

Sloane Stephens completely failed the grass part of the season, losing all matches. Overall, American player had only two successful tournaments during the current season - she won the title at Guadalajara on hard and also reached the quarter-final at Roland Garros. In nine other tournaments since the start of the season a former World No. 3 player won only one match. 

Stephens performs quite regularly at Washington. In 2015 she won a title here, but after that success she has won only one match here.
