Real Sociedad vs Barcelona: prediction for the La Liga fixture

Real Sociedad got off to a powerful start of the season, but their wonderful form didn't last long. Royal Club's downfall also led to the elimination from the Spanish Super Cup in the first match of that competition. The White-Blues managed to start the Spanish Cup quite well. 

After victories over Zamora (3:0), Panaderia (4:0) and Leganes (3:2) Basques also beat Athletic. However, hosts were eliminated by Betis in the quarter-final. 

After 32 rounds of La Liga Imanol Alguacil's men have 15 victories and 10 draws, delivering 55 points and a 6th spot in the standings. Team's weakest link is the offensive line, only 32 goals were scored so far. 

After a victory over Elche (2:1) team from San Sebastian drew to Betis (0:0).

Barcelona failed to achieve success in the Champions League group stage, a third place in the group gave a spot in the Europa League playoffs. Catalan club was considered one of the favourites in that competition. In the first play-off round the Blaugrana eliminated Napoli quite easily (5:3 on aggregate) and after that team narrowly beat Galatasaray.

However, Catalan club was unable to make it past the quarter-final - Xavi failed to motivate his players for the battle against Eintracht Frankfurt, who beat the Spanish opponent and advanced into the semi-final of the secondary European tournament. 

After 31 rounds of La Liga visitors have 17 victories and nine draws, delivering 60 points and a 2nd spot in the standings. After a victory over Levante (3:2) team was beaten by Cadiz (0:1). 

Pedri, Pique, Umtiti, Roberto and Fati won't feature in the upcoming match.
