Columbus vs Calgary: prediction for the NHL game
The Blue Jackets and the Flames lock horns in the National Hockey League on January 27. What to expect from this fixture? Look out for our predictions in the article below.
Columbus Blue Jackets
Columbus are delivering average recents during their current home series. In the first game, the Blue Jackets suffered a crushing defeat to Pittsburgh (2:5). The defensive line acted poorly, and goalie Korpisalo saved only 86% of the shots.
After that, the Jackets were set to play Ottawa and had a good chance to redeem themselves, but they lost to the outsider in regulation (1:2).
Calgary seem to have started recovering from a dip in form. They had an excellent game against Florida at home (5:1). Forward Gaudreau chalked up four points against the Panthers. However, the Flames failed to build on that success and lost to Edmonton (3:5) in the following game.
At home, the Flames look much more confident than on their travels. For example, in their last home game, they devastated St. Louis (7:1). Apart from Gaudreau, Tkachuk had a fantastic game and gave five assists.
In four out of five head-to-head games, the teams scored in each period.
In 4 out of 5 games between the clubs, more than one goal was scored in the first period.
Columbus are in terrible form and we doubt they will be able to put up a fight against Calgary. The Flames have been excellent of late, and we will be backing the favorite in this fixture.
Our prediction - Calgary to win
The sides are not used to sitting on the defensive and prefer open hockey, which leads to a large number of goals in head-to-head games.
Second wager - total over 5.5 goals
