EstoniaKaia Kanepi's appearance in the quarter-final is probably one of the main sensations of Australian Open. 36-year old player, who once was at the 15th spot in the world rankings, managed to surprise everyone with her performance.
We should note that Estonian player had a relatively easy draw. In the first round she managed to beat Kerber, who was out of form (6:4, 6:3). After that she beat Bouzkova (6:2, 7:6) and Inglis (2:6, 6:2, 6:0).
In the round of 16 Kanepi played against the World No. 2 player, Aryna Sabalenka. Belarusian playeris currently far from her best form and Kanepi managed to get advantage of that (5:7, 6:2, 7:6).
