At the start of the season Eintracht looked weak and for some time team even was near the relegation zone. But club's board was patient enough to trust Oliver Glasner and head coach managed to change the situation. During October the Eagles managed to step up and now they are fighting for a spot in the European competitions zone. 

With 28 points in the asset Eintracht are currently at the 8th position in the standings, only two points adrift from 6th placed Freiburg. Champions League zone is only three points away, so team needs a victory in this match. 

Arminia, just like their opponent, had an unsuccessful start of the season, but unlike Eintracht, the Blues were unable to step up. Throughout the whole first half of the season Frank Kramer's men were not looking so great and only in some matches managed to pick up points, but before the winter break team had a string of successful matches.

After that the Blues recorded a sensational away victory over Leipzig (2:0) and then they came back from behind in the match against Freiburg (2:2). In the most recent match Arminia hosted the bottom team of Bundesliga, Greuther Furth, but managed to only get a 2:2 draw, which was not enough to leave the relegation play-off zone. Now team is one point adrift from safety.
