Rafael Nadal started his season with a victory at the tournament in Melbourne. The Spaniard won all the matches in straight sets. He continues his flawless run at the Australian Open. In the opening match, Nadal defeated Marcos Giron (6-1, 6-4, 6-2), and in the second round match beat Yannick Hanfmann (6-2, 6-3, 6-4). Rafa has played in the final of the Australian Open five times in his career but has won the trophy only once.
