Kasatkina vs Muguruza: prediction for the WTA Sydney match

Daria Kasatkina got off to a successful start in the new season. At the first tournament, in Melbourne, Russian player managed to reach the semi-final. She failed to put up a fight to Amanda Anisimova (2:6, 0:6) though. 

Kasatkina got to a quarter-final at Sydney through a difficult draw. She did it in a very confident manner. In the first round she left no chance to Sofia Kenin (4:6, 0:6). After that she also beat Elise Mertens (6:4, 6:3) in straight sets. Kasatkina lost only two games at her serve and won 67% of points while serving, which is a great result for her. 

Garbine Muguruza finished the 2021 season with a victory at WTA Finals in Guadalajara. Spaniard won four out of five matches in that competition. 

A World No. 3 player kept her winning streak alive at Sydney. In the first match she defeated the Russian player, Ekaterina Alexandrova (6:1, 7:6). Muguruza was unable to retain the same level of performance throughout the whole match. In the second round she was not so good and Alexandrova had five set-points. But Muguruza managed to withstand and settled the contest in straight sets, winning the tiebreak.
