Ajax vs Sporting: prediction for the Champions League fixture
Ajax won all five group stage matches in the Champions League, but will Dutch team pick up three points in the match against Sporting? The answer is in our prediction.

NetherlandsBefore the start of the Champions League group stage Ajax, along with Borussia, were considered the main favourites of the group, but unlike the Bumblebees Erik ten Hag's team managed to confirm that status. Team trashed Sporting (5:1) in the first round and beat Besiktas (2:0) in the second one. After those matches Amsterdam club rose to the top spot in the group and had to secure that position in two-legged matchup against Borussia.
Ajax did that pretty easily - Dutch champion trashed Borussia (4:0) at home. Away match was more difficult and it was quite predictable, but team from Amsterdam still recorded a 3:1 victory at Signal Iduna Park. In the most recent match Ajax recorded an away victory over Besiktas (2:1), which became their fifth in the group stage.
Sporting CP
PortugalSporting earned a spot in the Champions League group stage as a champion of Portugal, but in the first round team suffered a humiliating defeat to Ajax (1:5) at home. A 0:1 defeat to Borussia on away match left the Lions with a slim chance for the playoff spot, but they did everything to get that spot.
The fate of the second play-off spot was decided in two matches against Besiktas - Ruben Amorim's team earned a 4:1 victory at Istanbul, score seems to be crushing, but in fact it was a difficult match. But everything was much easier at Lisboa - Sporting recorded a confident 4:0 victory and sent the Turkish team to the bottom of the group. In the most recent match Sporting recorded a 3:1 victory over Borussia and clinched a 2nd spot in the group.

Ajax are flawless in the current Champions League tournament, after five rounds of the group stage they are one of the best teams in competition. Hosts have no motivation for the last match, but we don't think that they will let themselves to play with no effort - Erik ten Hag always wants to see a victory from his team, team has some solid reserve players and we don't think that Sporting will fight to hard, they have also clinched a play-off berth for themselves.

Ajax are in a wonderful form, they are bagging victory after victory in all competition. Lack of motivation will help the head coach to do rotation, but even in that situation we don't think that hosts will become weaker, Erik ten Hag has many great players in the squad. Ajax will probably play offensively once again, so we are expecting a confident victory from them.
