Atletico vs AC Milan: prediction for the Champions League game

Atletico had waited for the champions' title for ten years, and finally, last season they made it - they beat Real Madrid to the trophy by two points. But this season, Los Indios had a rough start to their La Liga campaign. After 13 rounds, they are 4th in the standings with 26 points. Atletico are four points behind the current leader Real. In the last three rounds, the defending champions crushed Betis (3:0), had a high-scoring draw with Valencia (3:3), and got a narrow win against Osasuna (1:0).  

In the Champions League,the Colchoneros are 3rd in their group with 4 points. Diego Simeone's side just got defeated twice by Liverpool (2:3 and 0:2), and will be looking to bounce back and get an important win against AC Milan.

Atletico Madrid will be without Trippier, Felix, Felipe, and Griezmann.

AC Milan have two contrasting campaigns this season. In the Champions League, they sit bottom of the group table following three consecutive defeats to Liverpool, Porto, and Atletico. The Rossonerigot their first point in the fourth game, when they welcomed Porto to San Siro. Porto netted an early goal and maintained the advantage for 60 minutes, but in the 61st minute, Porto's defender Mbemba scored an own goal, saving AC Milan from another defeat. 

In Serie A, on the other hand, Stefano Pioli's men were unbeaten until last weekend. The Rossoneri lost to Fiorentina (3:4) away, but thanks to their impressive performance in the first 12 rounds, they still top the standings together with Napoli - both teams have 32 points. 

Stefano Pioli will be unable to call upon the services of Maignan, Rebic, Calabria, Castillejo, and Plizzari.
