Fernandez vs Osaka: another confident victory for Naomi?

One year ago Leylah Fernandez performed at women's singles US Open tournament for the first time in her career. She reached the second round in that tournament. In 2021 Canadian player improved her result and will now play in the third round. 

She achieved that result by beating Konjuh (7:6, 6:2) and Kanepi (7:5, 7:5). Both of those matches were difficult. In each of those matches Fernandez made way too many unforced errors. 27 in the match against Konjuh and even more in the match against Kanepi - 36. But she was fortunate, her opponents made even more mistakes. Estonian player made 50 unforced errors in just two sets. 

Naomi Osaka is defending her title at New York. We should remind that player won two US Open titles - in 2018 and in 2020.

On her way to the third round Osaka played only one match. In the first round she recorded an easy victory over Marie Bouzkova (6:4, 6:1). Her second round opponent, Olga Danilovic, withdrew herself from the match.
