Giron vs Evans: any surprises from the American?

Giron is demonstrating consistent play and has climbed up to the 64th line in the ATP ranking. If he keeps his momentum, he can easily get into the Top 50. Giron is fast and has a decent serve, which makes him a dangerous opponent.

Before the start of the Major, he appeared at the Winston-Salem tournament. There the American tennis player reached the quarterfinals, passing Bagnis, Delbonis, and Herbert. But in the quarterfinal match, Giron lost to Alcaraz (7-6, 6-2). 

Giron hasn't had any problems at the US Open yet. In the first round, he outplayed Antoine Hoang (6-3, 6-4, 7-5). 

After switching from grass courts to hard, Evans has had a decline in his performance. The Briton is having a hard time in America: he has won only one match in the past month, beating Lucas Pouille at the tournament in Winston-Salem (3-6, 6-4, 6-1). Evans lost to Brandon Nakashima, Alexander Bublik, Diego Schwartzman, and Richard Gasquet.

Evans started his US Open campaign with a victory over Thiago Monteiro, but it wasn't an easy win for the British player. The meeting could have ended very differently if the Brazilian player hadn't got injured (6-3, 6-7, 6-4, 6-1).
