Peterson vs Golubic: who will record a victory?

Rebecca Peterson's most recent successful tournament was a competition at Bastad on clay, in her homeland. She managed to reach the semi-final of that tournament. After that Sweden player never won more than one match in the main draw on hard tournaments. 

In Chicago Peterson started with a match against Marie Bouzkova. In a closely contested match Peterson managed to clinch a win after two tiebreaks (7:6, 7:6). Rebecca lost four games on her serve, but played confident on the receive.

Viktorija Golubic had a magnificent grass part of the season, reaching the quarter-finals at Eastbourne and at Wimbledon. However, Swiss player failed to keep the same level of form on hard. In three next tournaments she won only one match.

In the first round of Chicago tournament Golubic played against a comfortable opponent for her, Osorio Serrano. She already had one victory over her, at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. But Chicago match was way more difficult (7:6, 6:3).
