Bencic vs Teichmann: who will stop Belinda?

After a triumph at the Olympic Games in Tokyo Belinda Bencic continued her great performance at Cincinnati. To six successful matches at Tokyo she added three victories at Cincinnati.

In the first match of the current tournament Belinda recorded her second victory over Marketa Vondrousova (6:3, 7:5). After that she managed to beat Shelby Rogers (7:6, 6:1). In the round of 16 Bencic played against Karolina Muchova. During the second set Czech player withdrew herself from the match and the winner of the Olympic Games secured a spot in the quarter-final.

Jil Belen Teichmann became the main surprise of Cincinnati tournament. Swiss player was unsuccessful in the recent tournaments, but this time she put up her best performance.

In the first round Teichmann was considered an underdog, but managed to secure a confident victory over Sorana Cirstea (6:2, 6:0). In the second round she recorded another clear victory, this time over Bernarda Pera (6:1, 6:4). In the round of 16 Jil Belen made a huge sensation, beating the World No. 2 player Naomi Osaka in three sets (3:6, 6:3, 6:3).
