Since the start of the year Zheng Saisai couldn't find a win for a long time. On first six tournaments Chinese player failed to get past the first round. But starting from Monterrey tournament her results improved and she recorded her first victories.

Naomi Osaka had a great start of the season, she won a title of Australian Open. But Japanese player failed to repeat that success. Out of the next four tournaments she achieved her best result in Miami, where she reached the quarter-final. 

Osaka's most recent tournament is Roland Garros. In Paris Japanese player withdrew herself from the tournament after a victory over Tig in the first round (6:4, 7:6). A reason for that is Naomi's unwillingness to talk to the journalists, though she needed to do that, according to regulations. World No. 2 missed the grass part of the season, so it's hard to assess her level of form before the home Olympics.
