The 32-year-old representative of Taiwan did not have a good start to the season. For a long time, Jung just could not win. He lost three opening matches and only earned his first victory at the end of March when he beat Nicolas Mahut at the tournament in Miami. But on grass surface, Jung noticeably improved his performance. 

At Wimbledon, Jung almost got into the main draw. In the first two qualifying rounds, he defeated Peter Gojowczyk and Tatsuma Ito, but could not beat Gregoire Barrere. In Newport, Jason ousted Brayden Schnur (7-5, 6-7, 7-6) and Tennys Sandgren (6-2, 6-2), but lost to Alexander Bublik (4-6, 2-6) in the quarterfinals.

Donskoy has only two successful tournaments this season. At the beginning of the tour, he reached the semifinals in Biella, and in June he played in the quarterfinals of the Challenger in Nottingham.

It is worth mentioning that Evgeny hasn't won for five weeks already. He lost his last three matches to Damir Džumhur (6-7, 2-6) and Jenson Brooksby (5-7, 3-6), which were understandable, but he also was defeated by the Portuguese Silva at Wimbledon (5-7, 3-6), and until today we are not quite sure what happened with Evgeny that day.
