Mexican tournaments on hard surface were the most successful for Schmiedlova in the current year. She reached the quarter-final at Guadalajara and at Monterrey. After a failure at Wimbledon, where she was defeated in the second qualifying round, Slovakian player participated on a clay tournament at Bastad in the previous week. On that tournament after a victory over Burel (0:6, 7;5, 6:2) she was beaten by Buzarnescu (2:6, 2:6).
