Jule Niemeier is having a best season of her career. German player surprised everyone on a clay tournament at Strasbourg, where she started from qualification and eventually reached the semi-final. Jule failed to achieve a significant success on the grass. But her return to the clay turned out to be pretty successful.

In the first round of Hamburg tournament Niemeier easily beat Caroline Garcia (6:4, 6:2). The second round match against another German player, Korpatsch, turned out to be very difficult for Jule. But eventually Niemeier beat her compatriot in three sets (6:2, 6:7, 6:3).

Tamara Zidansek rose to the Top-50 in 2021 and she definitely wants to secure her position. Clay is a favourite surface for the Slovenian player. In the current season she reached the final of Bogota tournament and also had a memorable run at Roland Garros, where she reached the semi-final.

Zidansek played only one match on the grass, losing in the first round of Wimbledon tournament to Karolina Pliskova (5:7, 4:6). Tamara started on Hamburg from the second round. Then she played against Pliskova again. But this time it was Krystina Pliskova, Slovenian player beat her in three sets (6:3, 3:6, 6:3).
