Any team at Copa America is a tough opponent for Peru. The selection of players at the disposal of Ricardo Gareca does not allow to count on big victories. However, Peru finished second in their group after Brazil, ahead of such strong teams as Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela.

After beating Venezuela with a score of 1:0 in the last game of the group stage, Peru extended the streak without defeat to three matches.

Paraguay

Paraguay have their problems, but they still made it to the knockouts. Having Bolivia as one of the opponents in the group gave the team of Eduardo Berisso hope - to reach the playoffs, they essentially needed a 3:1 victory over Bolivia in the first round. But Paraguay also managed to unexpectedly beat Chile (2:0) in the third round.

Paraguay finished third in the group, letting Uruguay and Argentina ahead.
