Vera Zvonareva had also participated on the Eastbourne tournament. An experienced Russian player easily advanced through qualification and put up an average performance in the first round of the main draw against Kasatkina. But because of an unfortunate fall in the second set Vera had to leave the match and a tournament, as a result.
It was not a serious injury though. In the first round of Wimbledon Vera recorded a win over Bouzkova (7:5, 6:4), which we gave our prediction on. It was not an easy match for Vera, sometimes she was losing her serve. Czech player had nine break-points, but converted only three of them.
