Italy vs Austria. Prediction and Betting Tips for Euro 2020 (June 26, 2021).

Italy were undoubtedly considered one of the main contenders for victory at Euro 2020 by experts and bookmakers. Roberto Mancini's team has been cruising past the opponents throughout the year. Their opening game at Euro 2020 was no exception. At Olimpico, the Italians were looking to score a goal for a long time, but they eventually put the ball in the net in the second half, followed by two more goals.

In the second round, they faced Switzerland, which also did not become a problem for Squadra Azzurra. Winning this game guaranteed the Italians first place in the group, and Italy took the opportunity to get another win: Italy scored three goals again while keeping a clean sheet.  

In the third game, Roberto Mancini decided to use rotation, but the team did not lose motivation even though they were already qualified. Thanks to a goal by Matteo Pessina, the Italian national team beat Wales 1:0. Another win without conceded goals allowed the Italians to set a tournament record - no one except them had previously managed to get three victories with a clean sheet at the European Championships.

The Austrian national team was lucky with the draw. Franco Foda's team was not considered an outsider in the group with the Netherlands, Ukraine, and North Macedonia. They proved their worth already in the opening game. North Macedonia made the Austrians a bit nervous, but in the end, Austria achieved a 3-1 victory, which significantly increased their chances of the playoffs.

In the second round, Austria failed to fight off the Netherlands. Mistakes in defense resulted in two conceded goals, and the Austrians could not create anything dangerous in attack. A draw in the decisive game against Ukraine in the last round would take Austria through. The Austrians exceeded the task - thanks to the goal of Christoph Baumgartner, Austria won 1:0 and finished second in the group.
