Gauff vs Brady: an American derby in Paris

Cori Gauff played great on clay tournaments before the Roland Garros and gained an outstanding form. 17-year old player reached the semi-final in Rome and then claimed a title at Parma.

Cori kept her form in Paris as well. On first two matches Gauff defeated Krunic (7:6, 6:4) and then Wang Qiang (6:3, 7:6). On both matches American player couldn't remain consistent throughout the entire match. It is her main weakness - lack of concentration during the match.

The runner-up of 2021 Australian Open Jennifer Brady was in a long slump after her success in Melbourne. Only after a transition to clay American player got back on track, but she still failed to repeat the Australian success. Her only highlight is a round of 16 in Madrid.

At Roland Garros Brady managed to eliminate two dangerous opponents. In the first round she was playing against an experienced player - Sevastova (6:3, 6:3). In the second round American managed to clinch a win over a local player Fiona Ferro in the end of third set, just narrowly avoiding tiebreak (6:4, 2:6, 7:5).
