In first rwo rounds Gauff needed three sets to beat Putintseva (7:5, 4:6, 6:4) and Sakkari (6:1, 1:6, 6:1), but in the round of 16 Cori managed to defeat fourth-ranked WTA player and the winner of Madrid tournament Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets (7:5, 6:3).
