Stuttgart vs Augsburg: whose streak is coming to an end?

Stuttgart had a great start of the season and in the first part of the season was one of the contenders for qualification in European competitions, but Pellegrino Matarazzo's young team couldn't maintain the same level of performance for the entire season. The Swabians are currently on the 10th place in the standings with 39 points. They are 11 points away from Europa League spot, so they won't be able to reach it.

In last four games Stuttgart is on a disastrous run. Their string of defeats started with a 2:3 loss to Borussia Dortmund. After that Swabians failed to pick up points from matches against their main competitors - defeats to Union (1:2) and Wolfsburg (1:3) left club with no chance for the Eurocups.

In last match Stuttgart was unfortunate again - they were down to 10-man after the 14th minute of the game against Leipzig and conceded two goals.

Augsburg is not that impressive during that season as well - Fuggers are approaching the 32nd round on 13th place in the table. They are only four points ahead of relegation playoff zone and six points ahead of straight relegation zone, but Hertha has two games in hand, so Augsburg is in serious danger of relegation.

Team is also in a serious slump, which is going on for four games. After a loss to Schalke (0:1) in round 28, Fuggers failed to claim a win over Arminia (0:0) and then went down to Eintracht (0:2). In the last round Augsburg lost to Koln (2:3), one of their main relegation rivals, which got them in a really dangerous situation.

Defeat in a game against Koln left no choice to club's board and Heiko Herrlich was sacked. Now Marcus Weinzierl will try to save the team from relegation.
