Augsburg v Koln: relegation battle

Augsburg is having a mediocre season, but Heiko Herrlich's team will most likely avoid relegation, which is their main objective. Fuggers are on 12th place in the table with 33 points. They are 7 points ahead of Hertha, who is on relegation play-off spot, but Berlin team has two games in hand, so battle is not over for Augsburg.

Augsburg had a weak performance in the last matches - after a win over Hoffenheim (2:1) in Round 27, Fuggers got only one point out of next three matches. Most embarrasing defeat was against Schalke (0:1) on Round 28 - Miners have only two wins in the current season and already confirmed their relegation.

In their last game Augsburg lost to Eintracht (0:2) and extend their winless streak to three games.

Koln is having a bad season and don't have margin for error, because they are lying on relegation zone. Friedrich Funkel's side is on 17th place with 26 points, 13 ahead of hopeless Schalke.

In his second match in charge, Funkel's men lost to Bayer (0:3), but in the next game they surprised everybody. In a game against Leipzig, Koln was considered as heavy underdog, but pulled off an upset and secured a much needed three points.

2:1 victory over Leipzig broke the nine-game winless streak and the Billy Goats got even with Hertha, but, as we remember, team from Berlin have two games in hand.
