Chelsea vs Manchester City. Prediction for the FA Cup match

The London club is one of the best in the FA Cup competition. In their past, Chelsea has won the trophy eight times. The last time the «pensioners» were crowned champions of the tournament was in 2018. The number of trophies won by the London club is the third most important metric in England. The oldest football rivalry in the world has only been won by Manchester United (12 times) and Arsenal (14 times).

Last season, the London club came close to winning the trophy. Chelsea advanced to the final, where they were defeated 1-2 by Arsenal. So far, the latest draw has gone well. There were, however, no major competitors. With a win over Morecambe, the «Pensioners» began their campaign for the award (4:0). Then in turn Thomas Tuchel's squad knocked out teams from England's lower leagues, Luton (3:1) and Barnsley (1:0), as well as the Premier League's underdog, Sheffield United, in the quarter-finals (2:0). By the way, the FA Cup is a fine chance for the German professional, who just joined Chelsea's coaching staff, to win his first trophy as the club's manager.

Chelsea has had a decent start to the season. Despite losing in the second leg of the Champions League to «Porto» on the eve of the «pensioners» they were still given a ticket to the coveted tournament's semifinals. Tuchel's side is currently in fifth position in the Premier League, but they still have a chance to qualify for one of the championship medals. Chelsea, by the way, just lost one of their 12 Premier League matches with Tuchel at the helm.

Mateo Kovacic a midfielder is expected to miss the game due to injury. For «pensioners,» there are no such personnel casualties.

The «citizens» are also in a good mood as they prepare to face Chelsea. Manchester City also qualified for the Champions League semi-finals this week after defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the second leg on the field.

The wards of Josep Guardiola fell to Leeds (1:2) in the final round of the English championship, but this did not affect their overall ranking. Mancunians have firmly established themselves at the top of the Premier League table and will pre-register another championship title in the coming rounds. The lead over Manchester United has swelled to 11 points. 

The FA Cup is not one of the team's most important competitions. Just six times in their history have the «people» won the tournament championship. The FA Cup was last sent to the Manchester City Club Museum in 2019, but this is just the second time in the last 50 years that the club has won it. In the final round of the trophy, «citizens» were defeated by the future owner of «Arsenal» (0:2) putting them one step away from the final.

The Mancunians began this season with a 3-0 victory over Birmingham at home. Then they went through members from England's lower divisions, such as Cheltenham and Swansea defeating both by the same score of 3:1, and knocking «Everton» out of the tournament in the quarterfinals (2:0).

Manchester City's infirmary is devoid of patients. Sergio Aguero could make an appearance on the field in this match.
